Space is at a premium at the Musikalsk Børnehave, located in a former upper-floor private apartment in Central Odense. The challenge was to furnish the apartment’s largest room for play and various activities, while ensuring plenty of floorspace for musical expression. Space was also needed to store toys and instruments.

To inspire and encourage the children to interact and come closer together, we decided to furnish the entire back wall of the apartment’s largest room with backrests/bookshelves, notice boards, and pictures.

A large play podium creates new play zones in the room and can be used for play and as a musical stage. The podium features built-in compartments in which to store toys. Each of the two drawers at the base of the podium can store three children’s mattresses or lots of musical instruments.

Your imagination is the only limit.

By including low partition walls and different levels, we have made the room easier to monitor and more interesting for the children. On one wall, we have fitted a two-section partition wall with a hole that can be used for role-play, such as shop, puppet theater, TV, a cave entrance, etc.

The opposite wall features a cabinet that is open at the bottom to give easy access for the children to materials. The upper section features, some of which feature acrylic glass to display instruments.

“It was great that we were able to help design our furniture and that you were always available throughout the process.”
